LOCH SLAPIN AND BLA BHEINN

In January 2023 snow settled all the way down to sea level, which is quite a rare occurrence for Skye’s maritime climate.

As the snowstorm cleared southwards, clear skies revealed the Milky Way coupled with a slight aurora that brought some cool colours to the scene. An added bonus was Venus rising to become the brightest point in the sky.

The imposing peak of Bla Bheinn (”Blaven”), one of Skye’s highest at 929m, is in the background.
